Check-In
There is a Mandatory
Check-in from 6-9pm on the Friday evening before your weekend of play.
Check-in will be at La Colina Jr High School. The
following 4 items will be checked:
laminated picture player
cards
medical releases (these
forms
must have an
original
signature, no photocopied signatures.)
final team
roster
travel papers (needed by some non-CYSA-S teams such as CYSA-N),
Click here to print a roster form,
then Fill It Out and Bring It In To Check-in (to return
from the roster page,
click on the "back" button of your browser). If you
already have a similar roster form with the same info on it, you
may use that.
Detailed
maps of the Friday Check-in location can found here.
Important
facts:
-
You may use
player cards for the playing years of 2005-2006
or 2006-2007 or
a mixture of the two seasons.
-
The player cards must show a player picture,
and be stamped and signed by your sponsoring official, and
be laminated. No exceptions and no tampered cards.
-
AYSO, U.S. Club, and other USYSA-affiliated cards
as described above are also acceptable, along with those organizations'
med releases.
-
The player
card and medical release form must be of the same playing year.
You cannot use a 2005-2006 player card with a 2006-2007 medical release
form.
-
Per
CYSA-S rules, temporary cards will not be accepted from teams registered
in
the CYSA-S region. Players must have been issued an official permanent
CYSA card.
-
Age brackets will be based upon DOB as of
Aug. 1, 2006. If your team has been, for example, U-13 in 2005-2006, be
sure your application places you in U-14 for the tournament.
(Incidentally, players reaching their 19th birthday prior to Aug. 1, 2006
are not eligible to play as U-19.)
-
Medical releases
require an original signature because ambulances will normally
transport a child only if a parent or guardian is present to give
permission OR if another responsible adult can show a form giving
permission that has an original signature of the parent/guardian. A
photocopied signature is often not considered adequate (the exception
being a life-threatening situation). Tournament personnel have
personally witnessed EMT's refuse to treat a player based upon a form with
a photocopied signature; fortunately, the parents were shopping nearby and
could be called to return to the field quickly.
If you have any questions about this, please
contact our Check-In coordinator, Linda Cataldo

Teams traveling from outside
CYSA-South will need to comply with their sponsoring organizations' travel
rules. CYSA-North teams will need to apply early (1-2 months) to get
travel papers from CYSA-N.
U.S. Club-registered teams do not need travel papers (which is why
many teams that travel to CYSA-S tournaments such as ours are
dual-registered with CYSA-N and U.S. Club, playing league and CYSA-N
tournaments with CYSA-N cards/releases, and traveling to non-CYSA-N
tournaments using their U.S. Club cards/releases. (Be aware that a
player cannot be checked in with, say, a CYSA-N card and a U.S. Club med
release or vice versa.)
Borrowing (loan) players: Any number of borrowed
players are allowed in our tournament. As far as we are concerned,
you may borrow players from other USSF-affiliated organizations besides
your own, but ALL must have valid laminated cards and original-signature
medical releases issued by their sponsoring organizations. Both
items must be of the same year for that player. The year may be
either 2005-6 or 2006-7, but no mix-and-match of item years for a given
player (i.e. he/she can't present a 2005-6 card with a 2006-7 med
release).
Team
bags will be given out at Check-in and will include the standard
items such as the program schedules, line-up cards, information on
local attractions, and any free product samples as well as adequate
maps of the fields and surroundings.
Exceptions
to Friday night check-in will be considered in extraordinary
circumstances only: Please forward all requests for late
check-in to Linda Cataldo
ecataldo@semprautilities.com.
If you are allowed to check in Saturday morning, go to the designated
headquarters' canopy on UCSB's Storke Field (by Harder Stadium) at
least 1½ hours before your first scheduled game. Those teams
missing the Friday night Check-in without the permission of the Tournament
Director should expect to be assessed a $50 fee payable in cash or
by a money order before they will be allowed to play.
If
you receive approval to check-in on Saturday, come straight
to the Storke field at UCSB. Take the Los Carneros off-ramp, then turn away from
the mountains. Follow Los Carneros Road across Hollister Avenue past
the airport runway to the stop light at Mesa Road. Turn left and follow
Mesa to the stop sign. Turn right and go just past the Stadium. You will
see parking on the left and the right. The main fields are to the right,
adjacent to the Tennis Courts.
As
in the past tournaments, we will be using separate line-up cards
for each game. These will be given out at Check-In in the team
bags. For those who prefer to avoid hand-writing or typing the players'
names and shirt numbers on each card, you can copy the line-up section
of the card by clicking here, then highlighting
the table and do an Edit, Copy. Once you have copied it you can paste
it into, for example, Microsoft Word, then you can adjust the columns
as needed and enter the names of your players. At that point you can
print it on self-adhesive paper to attach to the cards after you receive
them at Check-In. [The size of the printed table must have the
dimensions 3
1/2" x 5 1/4" to fit properly when pasted.]

Please see attached maps for specific directions
to Storke Field, Lot 30
and
the Mesa Parking Structure
